Some bright news for Arsenal supporters who are currently dismayed by the prospect of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri leaving the Emirates this summer. It appears that Gervinho is on his way to the North London club for somewhere in the region of £10 million.
The Ivory Coast striker is currently on the books at Lille, although Arsene Wenger looks close to landing the forward and Gervinho admitted that he had chosen Arsenal as he liked the group dynamic at the club.
“I chose Arsenal because it’s a young group within which I will be able to integrate easily,” Gervinho told France Football magazine. “I could develop more over there. There’s only a few details left to sort out.
“[Is it] a risk? Not at all. I’m going to Arsenal to play. The best risk to take is to look to score goals and to play a lot. In football you have to take risks if you want to win. I’m going to Arsenal to win.”
At the age of 24, Gervinho has his best years ahead of him and could potentially form a potent strike partnership with Robin Van Persie.
