It appears that Carlos Tevez will not be signing for Corinthians this summer after talks between the Brazilian club and Manchester City fell through. There was always some element of doubt as to how the south American side could afford the striker and the £40 million deal did not happen.
However, Tevez’s agent remains hopeful that a deal can be struck with another of the player’s suitors and is unconcerned by the collapsed Corinthians offer. Kia Joorabchian expects other clubs to make offers for a player that he naturally rates very highly!
“This is Carlos Tevez we are talking about, one of the best players in the world. We are not overly worried,” Joorabchian told BBC Sport. “He wants to leave but is still a City player at the moment and we will of course respect that. We’ve just got to wait and see who comes in next for him.”
There remains the nagging doubt that Tevez will remain as a Manchester City player come the closure of the summer transfer window, not least because there are very few clubs that can afford his astronomical wages.
