West Ham were stunned last Sunday after dominating their opening Championship match against Cardiff only to be sucker-punched in the 90th minute by Kenny Miller. Sam Allardyce must now rally his troops for Saturday’s visit to Doncaster and the Hammers are 10/11 (bet365 – £200 free bets) to claim victory.
Even so, Rovers were in fine form against Tranmere on Tuesday when winning 3-0 and Sean O’Driscoll’s team should really have taken at least a point from last Saturday’s trip to Brighton when Doncaster led 1-0 until the final few minutes of the match.
Donny will be missing star striker Billy Sharp although some will still feel that 10/3 (Victor Chandler) is too big a price about the Yorkshire side, especially with Cardiff proving that this is a West Ham team who need time to gel.
Allardyce has added George McCartney to the squad this week, with the manager likely to continue with Frederic Piquionne in attack and the Frenchman is 6/1 (Ladbrokes – £50 free betting) to score the first goal of the game, although perhaps John Carew (6/1 Betfred) will instead make his Championship bow.
Kevin Nolan is probably the best value of all at 13/2 (Betfred) considering he plays in an advanced position, although this could be a cagey match where chances are scarce and Ladbrokes quote about Under 2.5 Goals looks to be the call at 10/11. West Ham to win 1-0 and 2-0 should be the bets to return a profit.
