The third and final Test between England and Sri Lanka takes place at The Rose Bowl in Southampton this week, with England determined to prove that they do have the bowling attack to trouble India later this summer.
You can get 11/8 with Betfred that Andrew Strauss’ team claim victory on the south coast, something which would complete a 2-0 victory and fill the home side with confidence going into their series against even stronger opponents.
In reality, the series should be level at 0-0 with the Sri Lankans somehow conspiring to lose in Cardiff when the match looked to be heading towards a draw. The tourists have not looked like taking twenty wickets in either match so far, although Sportingbet (£25 free bet) offer 14/1 that they manage victory at The Rose Bowl and they will be going for the win.
The draw is a best price 5/6 with Coral (£25 free betting) which doesn’t seem bad value considering that the batting orders have largely dominated the Test Matches in Cardiff and London so far. There is also the fact that showers have been predicted over the course of the five days which could easily see the match finish all square.
Even so, England will feel that they have a point to prove after a largely toothless bowling display at Lord’s and Graeme Swann (3/1 Skybet) might be the player to unlock the Sri Lanka defence. It’s hard to look beyond Jonathan Trott for Top England Batsman and he’s available at 9/2 with Ladbrokes (£30 free bets).
