Day three of the Glorious Goodwood meeting features two Group 2 races, including the King George Stakes and the Goodwood Cup. There are seven races in total, including two sponsored by Betfred.
Audi King George Stakes – 2.45pm
The second of four races televised on Channel 4 for the middle day of Glorious Goodwood, while bookmakers such as bet365 will be live streaming every race providing you place a £1 bet or more on the race in question. The King George has twelve horses entered at the 48 hour declaration stage and this is as open as a race gets.
Amour Propre might just go off as favourite, with the Henry Candy-trained charge having finished second to Masamah at York earlier this month over the same distance. Ladbrokes currently offer 4/1 about the five-year-old, while the horse that won at the Knavesmire that day is a 5/1 chance with Paddy Power (£100 free betting).
Noble Storm has impressive credentials, having won two of his three races this season and 5/1 (William Hill – £25 free bet) looks a spot of each-way value, with Swiss Diva (6/1 Coral) being given another chance after flopping at Royal Ascot.
Artemis Goodwood Cup – 3.15pm
There are some familiar names lining up to compete in the second Group Two race of the day and that includes Blue Bajan, the nine-year-old who is hoping for one final hurrah. Ladbrokes offer 16/1 about a horse that has won thirteen times throughout his career.
Geordieland (12/1 Hills) is another seasoned veteran who was pulled up at Ascot last month, with the previous run having taken place in September 2009. Perhaps a pointer could be that Richard Hughes has decided to ride Overturn (20/1 bet365), a horse which has been switched from hurdles and could run a big race.
Opinion Poll is the hot Godolphin fancy which can be backed at 5/1 with Paddy Power, while Manighar (6/1 Ladbrokes), Fox Hunt (8/1 Coral) and Chiberta King (10/1 bet365 – £200 free bets) all have lively chances, especially the latter after back-to-back wins coming into this race.
I-Shares Filies’ Stakes – 3.45pm
Ten female horses will line up for the fourth race of the day, with the ten runners going over 1 mile and six furlongs for what could be a straight tussle between Field Of Miracles and Wild Coco. The duo have by far the highest ratings out of the ten, although Meeznah has run well on her last two outings.
