Glorious Goodwood Day 4 latest odds, news and free bets

We’ve had three thrilling days of the Glorious Goodwood meeting and more treats in store on Friday when more top-class horses arrive in Sussex for some hotly-contested races

There are four races being screened on Channel 4 culminating in the Gordon’s King George Stakes which is a Group 2 encounter, while there are two Group 3 races that begin with the Coutts Glorious Stakes.

2:00 Coutts Glorious Stakes
Gatewood has been untouchable this season, with in-form trainer John Gosden saddling the four-year-old to three consecutive victories this term and you can get odds of 9/4 (bet365 £200 free bets) about William Buick riding this horse to glory, although there are plenty of other lively chances in this race over one mile, four furlongs.

Songcraft is one such rival and the four-year-old looked back to his best in a recent run at Sandown when finishing second to the impressive Afsare, with Frankie Dettori taking the ride of this Godolphin horse.

Dubai Prince is the other Godolphin horse in the race, while Quest for Peace carries the hopes for Luca Camani and there was everything to like about his four-length win in York four months ago.

2:35 RSA Thoroughbred Stakes
Fifteen horses are entered for this Group 3 contest which will see the runners compete over one mile and it could come down to a hammer and tongs finish between Gregorian and Aljamaaheer. The former is set to go off as 7/2 favourite (Paddy Power free bets) and that man John Gosden will be bidding to continue an amazing season as trainer.

The Irish raider found one too good at Chantilly at the beginning of July, although it has the highest rating in the race and it will be interesting to see whether Aljamaaheer or any other horse has the change of gears required to beat the jolly.

Trumpet Major was a major disappointment last time out, although the top weight in this race can bounce back from that Irish 2000 Guineas setback and run a big race, especially when you consider the Richard Hannon horse went off favourite in that race.

Archbishop is the other horse to watch out for, with the Brian Meehan-trained mount having two seconds to his name this season, having finished runner-up behind Xanadou at Chantilly and beating several classy horses.

3:45 Gordon’s King George Stakes
A one mile, five furlong contest is the Group 2 race of the day and there are some famous names lining up to compete for the £56,000 first prize including Australian raider Ortensia who is back in the UK to compete following runs at Royal Ascot and Newmarket.

The bookies offer odds of 7/1 (bet365) about the seven-year-old although this is a hot race and the best each-way bet could be Beyond Desire, with the five-year-old having landed two wins before struggling to make an impact at Chantilly.
