There is set to be a full house at the Walkers Stadium for arguably Leicester’s biggest game of the season to date, with the Foxes hosting the Rams in what is always a hotly-contested east Midlands derby.
Leicester are warm favourites at 8/11 (Coral – £30 free bets) to win the match despite the fact that they sit 11th in the Championship compared to Derby’s lofty position of 3rd. Sven-Goran Eriksson’s team were joint-favourites to win the league at the start of the campaign, although they have won just three of their nine matches to date.
However, a key stat is that the Foxes are eight games unbeaten and just need to start converting draws into victories, while taking a point from matches at Cardiff and Middlesbrough is a decent achievement.
Once again, we can expect Jermaine Beckford and Darius Vassell to be paired together and Beckford is a 5/1 chance (William Hill – £30 free betting) to open the scoring for Leicester and also open his account since making his move from Everton for £4 million.
Derby were not expected to challenge for promotion by the bookmakers or their supporters this season, although the Rams have accrued 19 points from 9 matches thus far and that means Nigel Clough’s team are joint-top of the table. County have won three of their four away games this season and can be backed at 4/1 with Ladbrokes to continue their excellent start to the campaign.
Steve Davies is finally enjoying a run of matches without being injured and he’s an 8/1 chance to send the visiting supporters into ecstasy with the first goal, with Derby having won at Nottingham Forest in their last away game.
