It was not a vintage Manchester United team that won the Premier League last season, although the Red Devils still finished 22 points ahead of Liverpool as they went one title clear of their Merseyside rivals, with Sir Alex Ferguson hungry to land more titles at Old Trafford.
However, Liverpool have already recruited Jordan Henderson in addition to the purchases of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez to suggest that they will be more of a force next season and the Uruguayan forward certainly feels that Kenny Dalglish’s team can mount a challenge.
“I think the form we showed over the second half of the season bodes well,” said Suarez.
“We’ve been playing well and I think we’ve been getting into the type of form that we know we’ll have to keep up for a whole season if we want to be title contenders. This is something we’re optimistic about for next season and if we can hit the ground running and maintain the good form then I think we’ve got a good chance of doing well.”
Suarez was an impressive performer for Liverpool after being signed from Ajax, taking to the Premier League very quickly and he could be open to more improvement next term.
