There is little doubting the quality of Luis Suarez, although many fellow professionals also feel as though the Uruguayan is quick to fall to the ground when challenged by an opponent.

Suarez appeared to overreact in the recent Merseyside derby when Jack Rodwell went in for a full-blooded challenge which saw the midfielder sent off. However, the Liverpool forward denied that he has never been a diver.

“I don’t trick anybody,” the forward told The Sun.

“I have never been a diver – only a forward who receives so many fouls.

“The Premier League is more exciting than anywhere else I have played and it’s always a battle because it is so physical.”

Even so, Suarez had an ongoing battle with Patrice Evra throughout the match between Liverpool and Manchester United, where the Frenchman appeared to have a problem with the behaviour of his opposite number.

Suarez has courted controversy in recent years when handballing on the line for Uruguay in a World Cup quarter final, while he also bit an opponent when playing for Ajax last season.
