Stoke City lead at the top of Group E after two wins and a draw against their three opponents, although the Potters will not be taking any risks when they travel to Israel this week.

While a victory would virtually guarantee Tony Pulis’ team a place in the last 32 of the competition, there is the small matter of a trip to Bolton on Sunday, with Stoke needing a positive result after losing at home to Newcastle on Monday evening.

City were uncharacteristically poor at the Britannia Stadium against the Magpies, although most of the team that started that game will be rested for their trip to the Reebok, with the visitors 13/8 (Stan James – £150 free bets) to claim victory against Maccabi.

Stoke beat the same opponents comfortably two weeks ago, racing into a 3-0 lead after half an hour and Cameron Jerome will get another chance to impress the manager. The former Birmingham striker has not had many first team opportunities this term, although he has scored twice in Europe.

Maccabi Tel Aviv need to win the match if they are to stand any chance of going through to the knockout stage of the competition and they should really have beaten Dynamo Kiev at the Bloomfield Stadium in September.

The home side can be backed at 2/1 (Victor Chandler – £25 free betting) to claim a maximum haul against a team that know they are likely to go through simply by beating Dynamo in their final home match.
