Roberto Mancini is not prone to hyperbole, with the Manchester City manager claiming last season that it was a case of playing for second place due to Chelsea’s superiority – even though Manchester United won the Premier League title.
The Italian is once again playing things down, something that is pretty difficult to do when you have won 6-1 at Old Trafford after taking apart the Red Devils in their own back yard.
Manchester City are top of the Premier League by five points after a monumental victory, although Mancini still reckons that their city rivals are superior than them at the moment.
Mancini said: “This is only one game. I still think United are one yard above us, still.
“I think we can only change this after we win the title in the end.
“After, maybe it will be different, but now United are better than us.”
The City manager also claimed after the game that his team can continue to improve, which will come as a surprise to many after watching this game.
He said: “I’m satisfied because we beat United away and I don’t think there are a lot of teams that could win here.
“But I think we need to improve more if we want to stay on the top a long time. We need to work more.”
