Norwich City were put to the sword on Saturday in a 7-goal thriller of which all were for the home side. England keeper Joe Hart sat out the game, and he may well be in the same position for Tuesday’s visit of CSKA Moscow.
Pantilimon has failed to put a foot wrong during the games against Norwich and Newcastle United, and the Romanian is favourite to be between the sticks for this encounter, with the home side confident of an easy victory.
Coral agree with the predicted outcome, and offer the best price for a City victory, offering 2/9 that the visitors will return to Moscow empty-handed. It is hard to imagine anything but a home win, especially considering that Pellegrini’s boys are pretty much firing on all cylinders at home, as displayed when tearing Norwich to pieces on Saturday.
Sergio Aguero has enjoyed some terrific scoring exploits of late, and it is possible that he will be given a break for the night, however the manager will be unlikely to take too many chances in this crucial tie. Victory on Tuesday would effectively mean qualification for the last sixteen, with two games to spare.
In defence it’s likely that Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards may get a recall, and Edin Dzeko may start after being sidelined in favour of Alvaro Negredo of late. The Bosnian is a good price at 4/1 to score the opening goal against the Russians.
City claimed victory in Russia two weeks ago, coming from a goal behind to win 2-1 and claim all three points, and Aguero might be required for the first 60 minutes or so. With a price of 3/1 to score the opener, Aguero is on blistering form at the moment, and he is surely hard to look past for breaking the deadlock. Betfred offer 16/1 for him scoring a hat-trick.
The visitors are not favoured at all, and some prices are as big as 19/1 for CSKA to return to Moscow with three points in the bag. A draw is 13/2.
