It has been a strange start to the season for Queens Park Rangers, whose seven matches to date have been book-ended by a 4-0 home drubbing by bottom club Bolton and a 6-0 thrashing from a Fulham team who previously had problems finding the net.
In between, Neil Warnock’s team have looked exciting, especially when winning 3-0 at Wolves and taking the game to Newcastle during their 0-0 draw. The manager now has to rally the troops following the mauling at Craven Cottage and he couldn’t be asking for easier opponents on Saturday.
Rangers are 10/11 (Coral – £30 free bets) to claim three points against a Blackburn side that have taken just a point on the road this season, with the visitors having spent a few days in India during the international break where they won a 3-0 friendly against Pune.
Warnock will want Adel Taarabt at his best following the midfielder’s random departure at half-time against Fulham and he is a 13/2 chance to score first, although this could be the match where Jay Bothroyd finally breaks his duck and the former Cardiff man is a 13/2 chance (Victor Chandler – £25 free betting).
Blackburn have shown only glimpses of quality this term and were soundly beaten 3-1 at Newcastle in their last outing, although perhaps a morale-boosting trip to see the club’s owners will enable the manager and team to turn the corner and start producing improved performances.
Rovers did land a draw at Fulham and they are a 3/1 chance to win their first away game of the season, with the draw on offer at 12/5.
