Real Madrid are huge favourites to beat Dinamo Zagreb in Madrid but is there any chance of an upset?
Well, the away side are 28/1 (Victor Chandler – £75 free bets) to claim the victory in one of the most one-sided Champions League ties you are likely to see, from an odds perspective.
Mourinho’s men, in contrast, are almost unbackable at 1/12 (Ladbrokes – £50 free betting) unless you include them in an accumulator. They are in superb form and have already qualified from Group D with four wins from four and are yet to concede a goal. At the other end of the table, Zagreb have lost all their matches and are yet to score.
This appears a total mismatch and if Ronaldo et al are in the mood we could easily see them chalk up a large win. The Portuguese forward is just 4/9 (Betfred) to score anytime with Higuain and Benzema not much further back on 8/11. The bookmakers and no doubt Madrid fans are expecting a very comfortable home win, with a margin of three or more rated as an odds-on chance.
They have scored four or more goals in seven of the 12 league games they have played in the Primera Liga. Whilst they only managed a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture it is worth noting that they did that with 10 men on the pitch and Mourinho in the stands. They beat Ajax 3-0 and Lyon 4-0 at the Bernabeu and we would expect the away goalkeeper to be one of the busier men on display.
Whilst manager Krunoslav Jurcic will no doubt set out to frustrate the home side with containing tactics it is highly questionable whether his players will have enough to pull it off. They will be without one of their best defenders in Josip Simunic and we fully expect Madrid to win this one very easily and qualify as group winners.
