With the late withdrawal of Tataniano, a total of eight will now head to post for this year’s renewal of the Sportingbet sponsored Tingle Creek which holds Grade 1 status. The current 2m Champion Chase winner Sizing Europe returns to what is his supposed best distance after a gallant effort over 3m at Down Royal last month, where he finished second behind Quito De La Roque. Henry De Bromhead’s high class nine-year old finds himself 8lb clear on official ratings here, with Wishfull Thinking his nearest pursuer. The Philip Hobbs trained Wishfull Thinking has always threatened to win a big race like this, although the concern must be that he has never won over this minimum distance. Jockey Richard Johnson will no doubt be hoping for a strong run race where he may just make the running himself. However, given a clear round of jumping this could well be a straightforward task for Sizing Europe who is to be ridden by regular pilot Andrew Lynch. The selection is bidding for his fourth win in the highest grade and the 7/4 offer from Ladbrokes is a standout.

Of the remainder, trainer Paul Nicholls has a tremendous record in this race and he will now solely rely on Kauto Stone who may need more rain to be at his best. David Pipe has his string in great order at present and it would be no surprise to see the consistent Imsingingtheblues run into a place, he is 25/1 with the Boylesports.
