We are down to the final five of The X Factor and the betting for who will win couldn’t be much closer.

After the departure of Craig Colton, smiley Scouse hairdresser Marcus Collins is the sole remaining male in the show. The top four can barely be separated by the bookmakers with Gary Barlow’s last remaining act Marcus at 12/5 (Ladbrokes), Little Mix at 2/1 (Boylesports), Janet Devlin 4/1 (Betfred – £50 free bet) and Amelia Lily 8/1 (Paddy Power) not far behind. Misha B completes the line-up and even she would seem to be in with a chance at a not-improbable 11/1 (bet365 – £200 free betting).

Tulisa’s manufactured girls seem to be gathering momentum and have been building a serious head of steam over the past few weeks. They received a lot of help from the producers and judges in the early weeks as the show seemed desperate to avoid the “curse of the girl groups”. However, since then they have proved themselves and look a very good bet to make the final three.

We expect they will be joined by Marcus and Janet who are both class acts. The show have downplayed Janet’s talents but we feel but she still looks a good shout to be in the mix at the end. She has a strong fan base and despite some indifferent performances in the middle of the series she was back to her best last week.

With Craig’s departure there could be an opportunity for fellow Liverpudlian Marcus to pick up some of his votes. That should put him in with a great chance of pushing through the next two shows to the final. He is versatile, likeable and entertaining and offers the full package – singing, dancing and yet more smiling.

This would appear to leave Misha B and Amelia as the likely bottom two this week and after Amelia was softened up by the producers last week we think she is in most trouble. Of course, having narrowly avoided the boot there is a chance she may receive some sympathy votes this week.

However, we feel the powers that be are convinced that Misha is the more marketable act. Throw in the fact that an Amelia victory in the final would be embarrassing and potentially damaging to the franchise and odds of 9/4 (Coral) for Amelia to be the next act eliminated look tempting.
