With Robbie Keane having left White Hart Lane for LA Galaxy and Peter Crouch potentially on his way to Stoke City, it is clear that Tottenham are short of numbers in attack ahead of the new season, something which could be remedied pretty soon.
Emmanuel Adebayor is currently on the books at Manchester City and seemed to be keen on a permanent move to Real Madrid following a loan spell at the Bernabeu last term, although Harry Redknapp has now revealed that Spurs are in talks to sign the former Arsenal forward.
Redknapp said: “The chairman is talking to City about the player but where they are at I genuinely don’t know.”
The Spurs boss also seems keen on FC Twente’s Bryan Ruiz, with Redknapp going to watch him against Benfica during the week.
He said: “He is a good player but we are more desperate in other areas. I don’t think anything is going to happen. He’s a good player that I have watched before. I just like going to watch football matches so I thought I’d just go and see the game.”
Even so, Redknapp is clever when it comes to lowering expectations in the media and we shouldn’t be surprised to see both players arriving at the club.
