Tottenham’s first home match of the season saw Harry Redknapp’s team soundly beaten by Manchester City, although Spurs were at the races on Sunday when thrashing Liverpool 4-0 and the manager could barely conceal his happiness.
Luka Modric broke the deadlock with an amazing long range effort in the 7th minute and there was also a starring role for Emmanuel Adebayor who scored two late goals to give the scoreline a more emphatic look.
Redknapp was delighted with duo’s efforts, claiming Modric is far more focused than the City game where he had asked not to be selected.
“Luka is fine now, he’s just getting on with it,” the Spurs boss said.
“I think the chairman will sit down with him now and discuss his contract. That’s what I’d like to happen. It was a great strike today. That’s why we were offered £40million because he’s a top player.”
Meanwhile, Adebayor was also praised with Redknapp saying: “He has been flying in training.
“You think he’s going to run out of petrol but he doesn’t. He trains like someone’s wound him up.
“He always has a smile on his face. Let’s hope it continues.”
