There is just a week left for the summer transfer business to be done and, while Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas have got their wish to join City and Barcelona respectively, Luka Modric still waits to find out whether he can leave Tottenham and join Chelsea.
The fact that Chelsea have recently signed Juan Mata suggests that Modric may no longer be in demand at Stamford Bridge, although it is clear that the Croatian is unhappy with the way that Spurs chairman has been steadfast in his refusal to allow the midfielder to leave the club.
Harry Redknapp wants Modric to sit down with Daniel Levy and hopefully thrash out some terms which will enable one of his star players to remain at White Hart Lane this season, with rumours having surfaced that the player is currently on strike.
“The chairman has to sit down and have a chat with him,” said the Spurs chief.
“They probably fell out a little bit over that first meeting.
“If they can have a meeting and resolve the whole situation and Daniel tells him we need him, he is important and that we are ambitious and will bring one or two players in, you might find the boy will be okay”.
