Spurs might have wiped the floor with Hearts to reach the group stage of the Europa League, although it appears that Harry Redknapp won’t be making a successful European campaign the priority this season, with several first-team players set to miss out on Thursday’s trip to Salonika.

That will include the injured Rafael Van der Vaart, although the Dutchman will also miss Tottenham’s other five Europa League group games after Redknapp left him out of the Europa League squad and the manager seems to have riled one of his star men.

Van der Vaart has admitted feeling annoyed that he wasn’t consulted on the decision to be left on the sidelines in Europe and claims that he will be fit to play against Liverpool this coming weekend, although he might well get more than an explanation from Redknapp after his recent comments.

He told his official site, who used the headline ‘annoying’ to sum up the situation: “Spurs could at least have consulted me. Anyway it’s up to the point of no return. I will be focusing on the game against Liverpool.

“I’m pretty convinced I will be fit by then thanks to Dick van Toorn.”
