Hull make a return visit to White Hart Lane for a capital One Cup tie against Tottenham on Wednesday evening, following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Spurs on Sunday. Steve Bruce wasn’t a happy man after seeing his team beaten by a rather harsh penalty decision.
Hull will be looking for revenge, and are a tempting bet with Bet365 offering 10/1 that the men from east Yorkshire can go into the quarter-finals.
Bruce will likely make several changes to his team, and admittedly the depth of the squad doesn’t compare well to that of their opponents, meaning that spurs are probably a safer bet with Paddy Power offering 4/11 for a home win.
Tottenham will be serious about this cup competition, and will be doing their utmost to make it through to the finals, and they were far too good for Aston Villa in the previous round at Villa Park, triumphing 4-0, with Christian Eriksen, Jermain Defoe and Erik Lamela amongst those returning to the first team.
Defoe has been in fine form this season, and is 4/1 with Betfred to open the scoring on Wednesday, while the same bookmaker reckon he is worth 25/1 to score a hat-trick in the match.
The last three victories for Spurs have seen them keep a clean sheet, and an 11/10 price from Skybet that they will repeat this feat against Hull is a very respectable offer, nevertheless Hull boast a decent defence and did beat Huddersfield 1-0 in the last round.
Nick Proschwitz won that game for the Tigers, and the German is a good bet at 18/1 to break the deadlock and score the first of the match, with Aaron McLean good value at 25/1 to accomplish the same feat.
